If you have arrived on this page, it is probably because you have taken part in one of our Voiceover Acting Workshops. You will have no doubt quickly realised that expenditure can snowball before income has a chance to catch up. With that in mind, I have made connections with a variety of voice-related businesses, with a view to passing on a discount to you. As a result, below we have a variety of voiceover discounts from companies I wholeheartedly recommend. All the companies listed below are ones I use personally and have used for years.
I’ll break each voiceover discount down into sections and explain how they can help you grow your business. Further Voiceover Training
The first voiceover discount is the opportunity for some additional training courtesy of the lovely people from Gravy For The Brain. Voiceover Demos
EDsound are our top recommendation for voiceover demos and their results speak for themselves. Find out more about them here. They have also very kindly offered you £50 off your first demo reel. EDsound – Voiceover Demos
Every showreel is unique. We start with determining what you’d like to achieve and finding out exactly who the target audience is. From this, a basic plan of attack is formed.
Performance, not just personality
Casting directors and producers only want your skills. Up to six bespoke scripts are conceived for each showreel to demonstrate those skills. These are drafted and written to show you off in the best way. Brace yourself! this is where “I didn’t know I could do that” discoveries often happen.
Honing
Trial and error, mixed with some due diligence and test recordings, refine the final scripts. The process of selecting possible music and any sfx begins here too.
Showtime
On the recording date of your choosing, I’ll connect to your own booth via a google chrome browser using SessionLinkPRO, CleanFeed,ipDTL or Source Connect. I will take care of every stage of the recording process. Don’t worry, it’s not scary, quite the opposite.
The Mix
This is where I put 30 years of industry knowledge into practice. Your audio will be polished and made to sparkle to exacting industry standards. If it isn’t perfect, we go again
Delivery
Individual spots and ready-to-send mixes will be delivered in any format you desire, usually broadcast quality wav and MP3.
Perfection
Nothing less will do. Sign off only happens once every question has been answered and every niggle and concern dealt with.
Prices start from £375 £325 for Voice Acting Workshop users.
You will require a basic home studio. For beginners, I’d recommend the Rode NT1 microphone and XLR cable, a UMC202HD interface, headphones of your choice, a fairly well spec’d and quiet laptop or Mac, and a fast internet connection.
You will also require recording software. I am here to discuss all of that with you.
It’s worth bearing in mind that Gaming, Animation and Character showreels are a lot more involved, require a lot more niche sound design and are usually more expensive but the process is roughly the same.

Voiceover Equipment
When you are looking to purchase equipment, as the saying goes, It pays to shop around. I used to live a 5 minute drive from StudioSpares North London Warehouse. RIP. I used to love going in and seeing/touching the product. Hearing a knowledgable opinion. I would always advocate for ‘Support Local’.
However, when I am buying online I fluctuate between Bax Music UK, Thomann and Amazon. It’s not just a question of where it is cheaper. It’s also worth looking at what warranties or return options are available.
Sometimes the website might also have B-Stock. Those products could be returns, demo units or the packaging has some damage. You can grab yourself a great voiceover discount and still have a product with a full guarantee.
Bax Music UK is the online offering of the European giant of the same name. They offer a great service and some lovely voiceover deals.
Your order often includes delivery, 3 year warranty and a 30 day free trial and free returns. Free trials can be a great way to try microphones in your space with your voice. It’s like a wizard finding their wand. Click here for everything Bax has to offer.
I have always had great service from Thomann. They are the world’s largest online specialist music retailer. They offer all the same luxuries that Bax Music do as well as excellent amount of bargains in their B-Stock catalogue. Check them out here.
Amazon has a very useful tool with their ‘Price History’ button. Here you can see if you are catching your voiceover product at the right time. Don’t forget you also have the option of waiting for Black Friday or Prime Deals. Remembering that doesn’t always mean it’s cheaper than it was the week before.
